This 9-day adventure is the ultimate way to experience the heart of Tanzania—combining the thrill of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro via the scenic and comfortable Marangu Route with the excitement of a classic northern circuit safari through Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara.

 

Start your journey with six days on the mountain, sleeping in cozy mountain huts as you gradually ascend to Uhuru Peak (5,895m)—the highest point in Africa. After your successful climb, transition into safari mode and enjoy three unforgettable days of game drives, spotting elephants, lions, giraffes, and maybe even the elusive black rhino.

Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut

Start your journey through lush rainforest filled with colobus monkeys and vibrant flora. After a steady climb, you’ll reach Mandara Hut for your first night on the mountain.

Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut

As you exit the forest, the trail transitions into heath and moorland. Along the way, enjoy views of both Kibo and Mawenzi peaks.

Acclimatization at Horombo Hut

A vital acclimatization day to help your body adjust. You can take a short hike to Zebra Rocks and return for lunch and rest at Horombo.

Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut

Today’s trek takes you through alpine desert terrain as you head toward the base camp at Kibo Hut. Rest early to prepare for the summit night.

Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut

Begin your summit push just after midnight, reaching Gilman’s Point and then Uhuru Peak at sunrise. After celebrating at the summit, descend to Horombo Hut for your final overnight.

Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Transfer

Descend through moorland and rainforest back to the gate. After receiving your summit certificate, you’ll be transferred to your hotel.

Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Depart from Arusha after breakfast and head straight to Tarangire National Park, known for its dramatic baobab-studded landscapes and large elephant populations. The park is home to lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and over 500 bird species. After a full-day game drive, you’ll head to your lodge near Lake Manyara or Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, descend into the stunning Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” This massive caldera is a haven for wildlife—including elephants, lions, buffalo, hippos, flamingos, and the endangered black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the crater floor before heading back to your lodge.

Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha

Start your morning with a drive to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its lush groundwater forest, flamingo-covered lake, and tree-climbing lions. This compact but diverse park is perfect for a relaxed final game drive. After lunch, return to Arusha where your safari ends. Optionally, we can transfer you to the airport for your onward flight.
